I’m a social worker registered with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I’m currently employed full time at PrimaCare Family Health Team as a clinical social worker – where I provide counselling services in both individual and group settings. I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness.

My clinical focus is mood management: anxiety and depression, psychological stress, stress resilience, reversibility of early life adversity and trauma. I also see people for grief counselling, adjustment issues, alcohol abuse, chronic illnesses, relationship struggles, separation, self-esteem, sexual abuse, infertility, performance anxiety, and life coaching.

I also work with Wilfred Laurier University, providing MSW students with clinical supervision as an Assistant Practicum Professor, on a part-time basis.

Group Counselling

Group counselling can be as effective as individual counselling. Moreover, group counselling has its own benefits. Group normalizes one’s problems, breaks isolation, provides opportunities for social learning and support, motivates action. I’m offering Emotional Wellness 101 – an 8 week program (details below).

Video Counselling

Video counselling is a great alternative to traditional individual counselling. Video counselling allows people to receive one-on-one therapeutic treatment, despite geographical isolation, or any other physical limitations that may prevent them from getting to the counsellor’s office.

Emotional Wellness 101

This program was created for people struggling with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, psychological stress, going through life-transitions, and seeking emotional growth and balance.

Program Description

Emotional Wellness 101 is a great foundation for understanding one’s emotions and their roles in a person’s life, psychological and environmental stress and its toxic effects on one’s mind and body, helps participants “to bounce back” from anxiety, depressed mood, chronic fatigue, improves self-regulation and decision making process, develops a stronger sense of oneself and facilitates a reconnection with one’s personal value system. Participants are going to learn and implement a variety of meditation, visualization and relaxation techniques.

Structure

The group meets on a weekly basis for 90 minutes during eight weeks. Every session includes check-in, new learning followed by discussion and practice, in the end, the participants are given homework for the following week.

Approach

The program is based on behavioural activation, cognitive-processing principles, positive psychology interventions, acceptance and commitment therapy theory and practice, competence building in personal and interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness and relaxation strategies.

Pricing Details

$450 + HST ($37.5/hr)

Currently, there are two available date options for the Emotional Wellness 101 program. The course spans over 8 Saturdays, but you can choose when to begin. Each session starts at 10:30 am and ends at 12:00 pm. Seats are limited to 8-12 people per group.

Please indicate your choice of dates when you submit your registration and payment. When sending your email, please provide the following information: your name, age, gender, address, contact number and your counselling goal (mood management: anxiety, depression, stress management, emotional balance, personal growth).

Counselling is not covered by OHIP, nevertheless, counselling provided by registered social workers is covered by most of the extended health care benefits.

Payment for the group programs is expected to be fully paid prior registration. Individual therapy is paid after each session.

You will receive the receipt that you submit to your extended health care insurance. If you do not have extended health care benefits you can claim your counselling expenses on your income tax.
